Support Engineer

Candidate must have administration experience across storage-based technologies plus associated applications deployed across heterogeneous Operating Systems (Windows, Unix, Mac) with the ability to handle multiple priorities at once. Understanding of enterprise storage concepts along with awareness of networking infrastructure components across a variety of network architectures and the ability to reproduce customer deployment scenarios is required. Strong customer focus is also a must along with demonstrable troubleshooting competency in a wide variety of categories, including:

  • Solid administration of: Linux, Windows, OS X, VMWare/Xen
  • Networking and file protocol experience: TCP/IP, CIFS/SMB, NFS, AFP, iSCSI, HTTP, FTP
  • Directory services experience: LDAP, NIS, ADS
  • Storage functionality: SAN, NAS, RAID levels, LUNs, multipathing, backup and recovery.
  • Network packet capture/analysis experience, understanding of Layer 2/3 protocols and HA
  • Experience performing debugging through log reviews and associate outputs
  • Experience working in a support organization dealing with enterprise customers
  • Ability and desire to quickly learn new technologies and products
  • Share knowledge and experience through documentation and mentoring
  • Working understanding of Disaster Recovery concepts and their implementations
  • Familiarity with shell scripting, Python and Perl highly desirable

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering or a different degree plus relevant experience is preferred.
  • Min 3 – 5 years of experience in a similar role
  • Knowledge of the storage industry specifically: Fibre Channel, NFS, and Enterprise Storage architectures
  • Networking and file protocol experience: TCP/IP, CIFS/SMB, NFS, AFP, iSCSI, HTTP, FTP
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Demonstrated successful capability to resolve conflict over sensitive or complex issues
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with external customers
  • Good command of English
  • No military service obligation for the male candidates
  • No obstacle for traveling

Something Nice to Have

  • Extensive experience with backup, data protection, and DR software
  • Understanding Replication, De-duplication, Snapshot/Backup etc
  • Experience with Hadoop, Cloud Stack, Open Stack, VMware, Hyper-V, Citrix etc
  • Experience in performance analysis of enterprise storage systems
  • Knowledge of Virtual Server environments and RDBMS/OLTP
