Executive Summary
Turkcell’s rapidly expanding digital services were generating massive volumes of unstructured data. As its NAS environment grew into tens of petabytes, the company needed a more efficient way to consolidate storage, maintain fast access to billions of files, and replicate critical data securely between data centers.
With NGX Storage, Turkcell migrated more than 75 PB of data to a high-performance and scalable storage foundation. The new environment simplified infrastructure management, improved storage efficiency, and enabled resilient replication across limited-bandwidth connections without introducing additional operational complexity.
“What impressed us most was how NGX Storage combined density and performance without adding complexity, making the replication of tens of petabytes seamless and secure.”

About Turkcell
Turkcell is Türkiye’s leading digital operator, delivering mobile, fixed broadband, fiber, and digital services to millions of customers.
As the company’s services and customer base continued to expand, the infrastructure supporting them also needed to scale. Maintaining fast, reliable access to data was essential for protecting service continuity and delivering the level of performance expected from one of the region’s largest telecommunications providers.
The Challenge
Managing unstructured data growth at massive scale
Turkcell was experiencing rapid growth in unstructured NAS data, with its environment expanding into tens of petabytes. Managing this volume across traditional NAS systems created increasing operational and infrastructure complexity.
Separate storage environments made namespace management, workload consolidation, and replication workflows more difficult. At the same time, the physical footprint required to support growing capacity placed additional pressure on data center resources.
Turkcell needed to consolidate its expanding NAS workloads without compromising the performance of critical services. The platform had to deliver consistent access across billions of small files as well as very large files while keeping infrastructure and operational costs under control.
Replicating tens of petabytes over limited bandwidth
Data protection presented another significant challenge.
Turkcell needed to replicate tens of petabytes between data centers using 10 Gbps connections. Replication had to remain secure and efficient while continuing to operate reliably during temporary network interruptions.
The company therefore needed a storage platform that could combine capacity, performance, resilience, and simplified management within a single architecture.
The Solution
A unified platform for large-scale NAS workloads
Turkcell deployed NGX Storage to consolidate its rapidly growing unstructured data on a scalable and centrally managed storage foundation.
The NGX H2800G2 platform provided the density required for high-capacity environments while reducing the rack space and operational complexity associated with traditional storage architectures.
Instead of managing fragmented NAS systems, Turkcell could support its workloads through a unified platform designed to scale alongside continuing data growth.
Fast access to both small and large files
NGX Storage’s dedicated FlashTier manages metadata operations independently from capacity storage.
This architecture provides sub-millisecond responsiveness for metadata-intensive workloads, enabling fast and consistent access across billions of small files as well as large data objects. Critical applications can therefore access the information they require without storage becoming a performance bottleneck.
Secure and resilient data-center replication
Built-in replication capabilities allow Turkcell to transfer large data volumes efficiently between data centers.
Inline compression reduces the amount of data transmitted across the network, while inline encryption protects information throughout the replication process. Replication can also recover from temporary connection interruptions, helping maintain continuity without requiring complex manual intervention.
Proactive operational intelligence
NGX Storage also provides predictive operational intelligence and call-home capabilities that identify potential issues before they affect active workloads.
Support teams can respond proactively rather than waiting for infrastructure problems to become service disruptions. This reduces operational firefighting and allows Turkcell’s IT teams to dedicate more time to strategic infrastructure priorities.
The Results
75+ PB migrated to a streamlined storage foundation
With NGX Storage, Turkcell transformed its large-scale NAS environment into a high-performance, resilient, and easier-to-manage infrastructure.
More than 75 PB of data was migrated while maintaining the performance and availability required by critical telecommunications services. Consolidating workloads reduced the complexity associated with siloed storage environments and created a clearer path for future expansion.
Metadata-intensive workloads now receive fast and consistent access across different file sizes. Secure replication protects critical data between locations, even when network conditions are temporarily disrupted.
The platform’s dense architecture also helps Turkcell increase capacity without expanding its physical data center footprint at the same rate. Combined with proactive monitoring and simplified management, this enables the company to scale its infrastructure more efficiently while keeping operational complexity under control.
NGX Storage provided Turkcell with a storage foundation capable of supporting continued data growth without forcing the company to choose between performance, resilience, and cost efficiency.
