NGX Software 2.2.0 Released for Gen2 Series

Update

NGX_Software_2.2.0 represents a major step forward for the NGX Storage Gen2 series products. This update includes a wealth of new features and enhancements that will greatly improve the performance and stability of the system.

In addition to fixing minor bugs and improving system performance, NGX_Software_2.2.0 introduces a number of new features that will enhance the user experience. These include a more intuitive user interface, enhanced security measures, and improved data management capabilities.

Overall, NGX_Software_2.2.0 represents a major milestone in the evolution of the NGX Storage Gen2 series products.

 

What’ New

  • GUI enhancements at Dashboard, LUN's and Share pages.
  • Storage Configuration menu simplified, and it shows Base2 and Base10 capacity information at creation time.
  • S3 quota, object statistic and object size histogram features are added.
  • Faulted hard drive logging now shows raid stripe group information.
  • Hard drive slots are automatically disabling after the drive fault or manual detach. Administrative action required to enable the slots from the GUI.
  • Synchronous replication handles network bandwidth and latency problem without administrative actions.
  • Software and firmware updates are completely changed. Prior all controllers should have its own signed update files. Now you can install only a single file for each controller.
  • Improved diagnostic collector to identify possible and current problems on the system.
  • Snapshot capacity reports per LUN and Share.
  • Network or FibreChannel adapter link up/down notifier.
  • Show FC link errors at the Network Settings page.
  • Improved hardware details at the maintenance page.
  • SEL logs can be seen on Logs page as System Events.
  • Jumbo frame settings can be change individually for both controllers real time.
  • For iSCSI connections you can define the IP strictly at the Network Settings page.
  • Improved iSCSI ToE feature for enhanced performance and low latency.
  • A new CLI interface over SSH added ngxli> .
  • Generate SAN switch zone configurations for the Brocade and Cisco from the ngxcli.
  • Remote replication data transfer performance enhanced over 2x.
  • Intelligent deduplication now controls dynamic resources and provides better performance under heavy load.
  • QoS settings are optimized for both AFA and Hybird series.
  • SMB Settings menu now shows AD status info and Kerberos tickets. Also periodic tasks logs AD / Kerberos / DNS issues as a warnings.
  • Cached AD connected users can be flushed from SMB Settings menu.
  • SMB tuning for large scale customers, improved 2x read performance.
  • SMB service now have offline login support up to 2 hour to provide its services under AD outage.
  • CEF log format added for remote logging.
  • Product_ID per controller is changed to a single service_tag.
  • Lots of system wide stability and performance improvements.

NGX Software 1.8.4 Released

Released in April 2021, NGX Storage 1.8.4 Software provides new features, simplified management experience, new visual reports, new data access protocols, and reliability enhancements for both physical and logical error detection and prevention.

Improved drive latency detection and error preventation

NGX proactive error prediction improves storage system reliability which is de-facto at our high-end storage systems. With this update, hard drive error detection and prevention technology came to whole product families at all.

Additional Share and LUN delete notification and warnings

Additional acknowledgement confirmation to protect mistakenly delete or modify operation for LUNs and Shares.

All Share exports protocols can be disable now

Disabling whole share protocols (NFS, SMB, S3 ) can be done without deleting the share.

ifconfig compatible print for all network interfaces and their mac, vrrp addresses

Network interfaces and their status are included the GUI with  *nix compatible ifconfig output.

Sending too much mail during RAID rebuild bug fixed.
